Gallienus-era magistrates of Cyzikus?
« on: May 13, 2006, 09:48:50 am »
Æ25, Cyzikus in Mysia, Gallienus, similar to SNG France 878:

I think it says CTRA / TAPΠAV / ΛOV KVZ / IKHNΩN / Γ·NEOKO / PΩN, but I'm particulary unsure of the apparent "Λ" in TAPΠAV / ΛOV, whether part of it might be a bit of wreath.

I don't have a list of Gallienus-era magistrates of Cyzikus to choose from.  Any information would be appreciated.

Seems to be a magistrate named "Paulus,"  who is not listed in BMC. von Aulock, or SNG Copenhagen.
Congratulations!

Paulus is nowhere listed, as far as I know. The known Cyzicene magistrates under Gallienus are:
Hermolaos (Coll. Weber 5069f., BMC 275)
Asklepiades (SNG Fitzwilliam 4168, Aulock 1287, Cop. 19, 138)
Sostrates (SNG Tübingen 2289)
Basileos (BMC 276, 278, 282-284; Cop. 19, 139, 141)
Severus (BMC 280; Lindgren I 237)
Apollonios (Aulock 1288)
