Sept. Sev. Emesa, Error ot Day
« on: January 11, 2006, 12:35:51 pm »
Hi all,
I know that the eastern coinage of Septimius Severus is a bit of an acquired taste to some but I love it. Here is a recent addition to my collection:-

Septimius Severus Denarius
Obv:– IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS I - I, Laureate head right
Rev:– FORTV-N REDVS, Fortuna, with modius on head, standing left holding rudder and cornucopiae
Minted in Emesa. A.D. 194 - 195
Reference:– RIC 377 var. (not listed with the reverse error)

Regards,
Martin

That legend is not found in the Reka Devnia hoard either.
