Hi,

Please help me to identify this AR15 Ottoman coin. Unfortunately, the hole destroyed the date - my only tool to identify Islamic coins.

I think this is a para from Egypt.  I see the number 87 on the bottom of the reverse, so I think the date is 1187 AH.  Too bad the reignal year can not be read at the top of the reverse.

This coin was minted by Abdul Hamid I (1187-1203 AH / 1774-1789 AD).  It is number KM#121 in the Standard Catalog of World Coins, 18th Century Edition.  The catalog says this is a billon coin from 15 to 15 mm in size.  It should weigh between 0.30 to 0.40 grams.

Yes Howard is correct here, but it is silver not billon
