There's another letter beginning of the 3rd line: CKPIBWNOC - "skribonos",
genitive of "skribon". The personal name is HCAIAC, Greek form of the Hebrew Isaiah. Not sure how to interpret the form HCAIA in the
legend. The dignity is in the
genitive, so that would also be expected for the personal name (HCAIOV.)
It is not clear what a 'skribon' was at this time. The word evidently derives from
Lat. scribere, and possibly referred to a person
writing down something, like a scribe. In any case, at the end of the 8th century, a skribon was the commander of a unit of exkoubitors, the elite imperial guard.
