caracalla-antioch-Pisidia
« on: January 10, 2021, 11:42:06 am »
This ae 22 I should have identified.
it is a caracalla for Antioch in Pisidia.
Obverse should be IMP CAES MAVR ANT
 Reverse ANTIOCH FORTUNA CO
Could not find a classification for the reverse legend.
I thank those who suggest me.
Roberto

ISEGRIM lists only one example with this reverse and reverse legend, but IMP MAR... obverse legend.

PISIDIA, Antiocheia. 198-203 AD. AE. Obverse: IMP MAR AVR ANT; PORTRAIT MAN R / CARACALLA (WREATH LAUREL / CLOTHES). Reverse: FORTVNA CO ANTIOCH; WOMAN STANDING HL(1) (BRANCH(1) / POLOS / CORNUCOPIAE(1)). 1. 5.06g KRZYZANOWSKA S150,CAR2.5 / COLL BERLIN

Thanks,
In fact, this could be the legend on the obverse, looking closer, but at 1 pm I think I see a C, it could be just my impression. There is no reproduction?

The letter at  1 o'clock could be an R.

If so, and if the "C like" structure (green) is not a letter but one of the ribbons of the laurel wreath, the legend could be IMP MAR .... (if it is a C it could be IMP C MAR AVR..., I don't see CAES)

Unfortunately the Berlin example mentioned by ISEGRIM  is not online.

Yes, I think your legend is correct, it remains only to understand if it is a C to oppose the degree lasso. Thanks
