Double line of drapery on right hand of
Alexandria standing left is present on reverses of
Maximianus tetradrachms for year 4 (see Giessen 3299 and in particular 3300 on which the shape of the double line is very close and
Savio 2252 and 2253).
However, for these early years, the
portrait looks rather as that of Diocletianus than that of
Maximianus. And a guess reading of a delta at 11 h on the left
side of the
obverse could support a tentative
attribution to Diocletianus.
If so years 1, 2 and 5 are also possibilities for an
Alexandria standing
reverse for Diocletianus. Year 2 or year 5 being the most probable (date of year1 being usually fully on the left
side).
