Marcus Antonius Legions Denar
« on: September 19, 2020, 04:08:22 pm »
Hello

I would like to have your opinion on these 2 Marcus Antonius Legions Denar, sold by the same professional. If you need others photos, you can say it to me, Thank you.

Legion III : 3,64 gr  - 17 - 18 mm

Legion XIX : 3,60 gr -  17 - 18 mm

They are fakes, I find some points that look like the 1st photo legion III

Thank you very much

It seems that a lot of Legionary fakes have hit the market lately.

Thank you Jay GT4 for your intervention, yes apparently a lot of false.

It is obvious that the XIX legion is a fake, too many points in common between the 2 coins, the number "XIX", the letters "LEG", etc.

Some of these are really deceptive. They come from several rev. and obv. dies. And indeed, there is one seller who should be named, even though they are considered 'reputable'. Here's another one. With die links to yet another reverse.

Joe Sermarini I'm sorry, I don't understand the meaning of your phrase.

Right now the seller offers another seven of these fake denarii.

In my humble opinion there is no use to post these fakes without - ceterum censeo  :) - nominating the dealer as a notorious fake seller

Klaus

Joe Sermarini I'm sorry, I don't understand the meaning of your phrase.

He's asking for someone to put the pictures into the fake reports.  Unfortunately I don't have time...

Anyone can do it and if you do enough of them Joe generously gives you Forum bucks.  Try it!

DO NOT LINK TO A SELLER UNLESS YOU ARE NOMINATING THEM FOR THE NFSL.

HOW TO NOMINATE A SELLER FOR THE NOTORIOUS FAKE SELLERS LIST!

Do not nominate a seller, post a seller's name or username, link to a seller's eBay listings or store or website unless you are certain some of their coins are fake. If you are uncertain, wait until a consensus is reached in discussion that at least some of their coins are fake.

Step 1)  If you are not certain the coins are fake, post some of the seller's coins that you suspect are fake. Do not include the sellers' name or a link. If you have found matching fakes on the Fake Coin Reports, say so. Upload the photos to the discussion board. Do not link to the photos on eBay or another website.

Step 2)  If you are certain the seller's coins are fake or, if originally uncertain, after consensus is reached that the coins are fake, then nominate the seller.  Only then should the seller be named and a link provided.

Step 3)  The nomination post or thread should have the subject, "NFSL nomination insert eBay username" or "Nomination of insert eBay username as a Notorious Fake Seller." The post should include the username and a link to the sellers' item list on eBay.

I did NOT link a seller
I posted auctions
When the seller puts his name as part of the auction it is just his fault

Seems some dealers are treated God-like  :)

Dwarf, you should probably read more about the Fake Coin Reports system and NFSL before making such assertions on a board provided without charge by a professional coin dealer.   This isn't Twitter.

Linking to auctions IS linking to a seller. What do you think it means, linking to their Facebook page?  Read my last post just above.
