Need help identifying this Altar bronze
« on: September 17, 2020, 07:45:07 pm »
Hey finally getting back at my coins after my collection being relegated to the closet while my wife took over the office to teach Grade 1 from home.   I ended up doing puppet lessons, instead of scrubbing uncleaned for the past 6 months.

Needless to say I am glad to be back at it.

Need some help identifying this Altar coin

Size wise it is 17.7mm   2.6g

With elimination and using the RIC lists I believe the obverse reads
IMP CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG
helmeted, laureate, cuirassed

Reverse should be
VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINCIPIS PERPETVI

I believe if the exergue is PTR I should be looking at

RIC VII Trier 209

though the Altar doesn't look like it fits the horsehoe altar description.

Am I correct, or just way off base and out of practice.lol

Thanks

PS.  I hope to be able to start updating my gallery as well.  I have a long way to go to try to fulfill my New Years goal I stated of uploading a new coin for every day.

Try Thessalonica/Thessalonika mint.

Hi Blayne and Pete...

I hope Blayne is right,  I read in exergo: PTR means Trier...
