Good evening dear
members!
I have a
Dupondius from Hadrianus in my
collection which has a very special
reverse. I am not 100% sure, if the goodness is right dicribed in the
RIC .
So, here we go:
Hadrianus/Dupondius
Mint:
ROMEA)
IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS
AVG PM TRP
COS IIIRadiated
bust with bare chest and slightly drapea on the left shoulder right
R)
SALVS PVBLICASalus (?) standing left, putting foot on a rock, holding rudder and
cornucopiaeWeight: 14,1g; Ø:28mm; Reference:
RIC II/ 604
My question: Couldn´t it be
FORTUNA which is here illustrated ?
I have never seen
SALUS holding a rudder, but it is one of the typical attributions of
Fortuna?!
I would be very thankful for any answers, advices and opinions
Best regards Gerhard
