Cast Lead Figurine of a Gladiator?
« on: August 29, 2020, 10:53:34 pm »
Hi, all.  Here is another interesting lead artifact from Caesarea Maritima.  I have made a lot of guesses regarding the attributes on the figure, thus the question marks in the description, so any corrections or other ideas are welcome.  I searched many photos on Google and sales catalogs without much luck.  I have attached a photo from PicClic of what seems to be a possible parallel.
Thanks, again, V-drome

Nice piece.

Personally I am leaning towards soldier with standard helmet and muscle cuirass.  Perhaps a Mars or other local war god.

Thank you, Shawn.  It is funny how many modern Roman lead soldiers come up when searching on Google!
