Lead object
« on: August 29, 2020, 06:00:10 am »
Hello,

How can I decipher the cuneiform inscription on this lead object, or at least what is this? :)

Dimensions: (2,0*1,8*0,4 cm)

Thanks for any comment...

Sincerely

Very few people can read cuneiform. I have not seen anything like it.

I have never heard of a lead uniform tablet.  But Old Persian was written in uniform until at least the 4th c BC so this may be a late object - not earlier Mesopotamian.

Thank you very much for your precious comments. A clue about this; a lead bell-shaped seal like object has been found near to this as i learned, it may be Assyrian or Urartian; besides i looked at Achaemenid cuneiform sign list but i could not make a comparison with any of these signs. Another point, its weight is nearly 15-16 gr, may it be a 2 shekel weight?

Sincerely
