Hi everyone,
Last year,
google - in their arrogance - began changing the usual http://
part of the
wildwinds website pages to https://
As a result, people who clicked on the
google link usually saw an image as an error message suggesting that they change the start of the url from https: to http.
I added a redirection (https-> http) script to the server but I have discovered
google deliberately ignores such scripts.
Well, after a long think and with
help from our new server people, we have now changed the website to https.
This meant my manually changing a dozen or so script files and nearly 14,000 html files. (I managed that with the
help of a 13-year old program which was the only one of my "
search and replace" utilities that didn't complain that I was changing a url.).
I think they are all done now and some of you may have seen peculiar pages during the day. However, if you do have any kind of problem, something appears unusual, something doesn't
work (e.g. the dropdown lists at the top of most pages), anything at all, could you please let me know by email ? (My address is in my profile).
I
still think it's a damn cheek of
google to simply change urls to what they think they SHOULD be. Other
search engines don't do it.
