Germanicus Dupondius

I believe that these are die matches. One is a coin currently at auction the other from the fakes reports.

Thoughts?

Does Germanicus make that limp arm gesture on any of the genuine ones? On mine it's a straight-arm salute.

Certainly looks like a die match.

I don't think there's a die match, based on some spacing on some elements as I see them.   Both are remarkably well-preserved for the issue, if genuine.

Apparent spacing differences are probably just different camera angles.  Even coins from the same dies can look quite different in photos taken from slightly different angles.

I have several of these fakes that I spotted in a catalog that I will be uploading fake reports on. I have spoken to the auction house directly who have immediately withdrawn them all.

At first, I thought not a die match due to the "SIGNIS" not matching - one looked as though it went through to the armpit. But, at closer inspection it's the rough surface, it may be a match.

Interesting because mine is a straight-arm as well.

Sometimes he does. But more characteristic is that he has strong arms and that the palm of his hand (which very ofte is struck weakly) is directed towards the viewer.

Greek fakes

Demetrios, obverse is possibly copied from authetnic coin but recut and reverse is completely modern.

IBSCC Bulletin on Counterfeits BOCS Vol 5 No.1/2 1980 Page 4 Fig 3

Balas

Transfer die fake, same obverse die as in bulletin and same scratch/nick through the middle of Balas ear and same die flaw on obverse at 1 o´clock right to the hair.
I haven´t found this nick in ear on authentic specimens and there exist impossible die combinations and fakes with too much weight for phoenician weight standard of 14.3g.

There are more fake, only overlooked auction, now I am looking more carefully

Claudius fake from modern hand cut die, it seems like martin was faster and added this one already to fake reports :(

Here die match for sale as modern replica

https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/178572282/roman-dupondius-von-claudius-i-c?ga_search_query=Claudius&ref=shop_items_search_1

Trajan is fake , too

Here die match for sale as modern replica

https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/182637420/roman-sestertius-von-trajan?ga_search_query=trajan&ref=shop_items_search_1

And like to another die match to the fake from the first post in this topic, for sale as replica

https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/178583999/roman-dupondius-von-germanicus-struck?ga_search_query=Germanicus&ref=shop_items_search_3

I do not like other coins there too but too lazy and I do not want to invest more time for this.
