Byzantine seal

Hi all, I have been trying to learn more about Byzantine seals. Been trying to read this one; would it be correct to date it to 11th century? Also the legend looks like it names Michael, notarios?

Hi,

Yes, you are right about the reading. With the Addition of  the "R" before the title, which means that the owner was an imperial notarios. I can read:

  [ KE ΒΘ ]
  ΤΩ CΩ ΔΟΥ
  ΜΙΧΑΗΛ
  R ΝΟΤΑΡΙΩ

The obverse could be the archangel Michael (?) The dating should also be correct, but I let here the specialists judge.

Nothing to add to that attribution. Except you can strike the question mark after Michael. That is definitely the archangel on the obverse.

Thanks both for your very informative replies! Can the legend be translated as ‘Lord, help Thy servant Michael, imperial notarios’?
