Suetonius says Antonius added very few words to
his reading of the decrees of the Senate, but "very few words" is in the context of a tradition of eulogies for prominent patricians that could take most of the morning. Appian gives a quotable report. However, both were
writing over 150 years after the event. Appian gets the location wrong; Suetonius tends to promote the more scandalous gossip. So, as with most ancient sources, who knows? It is pretty clear that the funeral quickly turned public opinion against "the Liberators".
