Ave!

Copper alloy; 47mm/2.6gm

As seen in the photos, this curious object was hammered flat, wrapped about a sharp pointed something (metal/wood?) until the sides met.
The pointy end was then bent into the purposely-made hook shape; not a plow hit, you know?
Just guessing now, but the hole near the suggests that a small or pin was then added to hold a pointed wooded dowel of some sort.

Pretty sure is Roman, but what the heck is it? An ancient roman button hook? Ha Ha!

Always appreciate your thoughts!

Best,

Kevin

Not far off your button-hook guess.  Likely a weaving tool.

Ave!

Positive that it's Roman.
