Ave!
Copper
alloy; 47mm/2.6gm
As seen in the photos, this curious object was hammered flat, wrapped about a
sharp pointed something (metal/wood?) until the sides
met.
The pointy end was then bent into the purposely-made hook shape; not a plow hit, you know?
Just guessing now, but the hole near the suggests that a small or pin was then added to hold a pointed wooded dowel of some sort.
Pretty sure is
Roman, but what the heck is it? An ancient
roman button hook? Ha Ha!
Always appreciate your thoughts!
Best,
Kevin
