2019 Gallery of the Year nominations
« on: December 09, 2019, 12:18:17 am »
Well it's that time of year again, when we choose the Member's Gallery which represents the best user resource of the year.
This year's winner will join past winners quadrans, David Atherton and Jay GT4, and okidoki as best gallery of the year, worthy winners all.
What we are looking for here is the gallery which is the best resource for collectors, so it is more about variety and organization rather than quantity or quality of coins (although that certainly helps).
So with those requirements in mind go forth and explore, search through the many galleries posted here at Forvm, and choose the ones you think are most valuable as searchable resources for other collectors. Think outside of your normal collecting interests, and maybe make somebody's day by leaving a comment along the way. Providing a link would be great too.
Winners will get bragging rights and any coin from Joe's shop which they can afford.  😎

You may nominate up to three candidates, but be prepared to vote for those you nominate. Former winners are ineligible as per the precedent set by our inaugural winner quadrans.
Nominations will be open for a couple of weeks, and then i will post the voting poll. The winner(s) will be announced after New Years Day.

Alright then, let's see what you think!

- Peter

I want to nominate Charles M. His Elagabalus gallery has reached a level that makes it an important database if you are looking for Elagabalus.

All my favorites have been nominated already or have won, except for Orfew's

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=41352

His recent entry into the world of Domitian's rarities makes it a must.

Edit:  just realized Nemo's hasn't been mentioned

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/index.php?cat=24416

And  Alberto's

Do the nominees need a second?  I've really enjoyed Anaximander's and n.igma's galleries.

(Thanks Nick)
I don't think we need to second the nominations, just get these beautiful collections out into the light of day and let the people decide.
And there are definitely some impressive galleries put forth so far! But I know there are more, so who else wants to nominate a member?

I totally agree! This is one of the most comprehensive galleries of Elagabalus online. Very worthy of recognition.

Peter,

Alas, it looks as if there are no more takers, or rather, suggesters.

By the way, are the results of the polls for best gallery in 2019 already published? I can't seem to locate them. Thanks in advance for help.

My apologies to everyone for this extended delay. I have indeed been having difficulties with my phone (thanks Jay) and have only been able to get online sporadically. In fact this is the second time I have tried to post this in the last few days, so I really hope it goes through this time.
I guess it's finally time to get a new phone!
Anyway I'm here now to ask for a volunteer to post the poll for the Gallery of the Year, which will also require c&p'ing the nominees gallery links.
I would appreciate the help,  and hopefully I will have a new phone soon.
Again, I am sorry for the delay, but I think it is a worthwhile project and I don't want it to fall flat because I am internet challenged.
Thanks in advance, and I hope to be more active soon.
Gratefully,
- Peter

Hey Jay, thanks for the nod.  My gallery isn’t in the same league with the others mentioned, but it’s appreciated! I haven’t been able to post much recently but I hope that will change soon.
