Boiotian drachm OTD
« on: October 16, 2019, 06:48:23 am »

Well struck and nicely centered portrait of Poseidon, reverse die is worn, making the both the head of Nike and the wreath she is holding very indistinct.

Boiotian League, Federal Coinage, silver drachm, (225-171 B.C.), (4.98 g), obv. bearded laureate head of Poseidon to right, dotted border, rev. BOI**WTWN* to left, outwards and downwards, Nike draped standing to left resting on trident, wreath in left hand, monogram of M/K to left, (cf.S.2404, BCD 128, [Triton IX], BMC 98, Head p.90 [correction obverse Poseidon not Zeus].
