Detectorists find huge Norman coin hoard

from the BBC News front page.

Over a thousand each of Harold ll and William l and mules between both.

The local museum wants them but I expect the coins will be worth $1000 a specimen with such a provenance.

This is astonishing. :o "the second largest find of Norman coins ever in the UK." and "the 'very well-preserved' hoard is 'hugely significant' as it contains double the number of Harold coins than all previous known finds combined."  Potentially market-moving.   Harold II has to be among the rarest of late Saxon coinage.

Well spotted cicerokid, and thanks for sharing.  +++

I saw no reference to the coins being found in any type of pottery container, nor does it look like there were any shards of pottery in the video.  I assume they had been in some type of purse or cloth sack which had rotted away over the centuries.
