Fake - Phoenicia Tyre with Dolphin & Owl
« on: August 09, 2019, 04:18:48 am »
“Take a look at this beauty”

I found two coins of this type for sale recently, both blatant fakes. The coins characteristics are unconvincing and can be easily spotted by a novice collector. I have included one of these fakes below, the second coin can be found by following the provided link.

Phoenicia, Tyre 425-333 B.C (Group III unclassified series)

Obverse: Dolphin to right, guilloche border

Reverse: Owl standing right head facing, crook and flail over shoulder

Enjoy  ;D

I recognize the poor workmanship--by the same guy that produced the shekel of Tyre that looks like Frankenstein's monster.

Bang on djmacdo, they do look like they were made by the same person.

This is what the official coins look like.
