Ostrogothic cast ?
« on: August 02, 2004, 07:40:02 pm »
Of this coin-cast are known much few samples.

mm 17
D/  The she-wolf and the twins.

R/  Pax or Libertas holding Victory

This pseudo-coin of lead seems to appear during the Bizantyne-Ostrogothic war (AD 536-539).

Is it perhaps a coin of emergency of an army in escape?
Each your consideration or reference will be much appreciated.
