Unpublished Titus

It's not often one comes across an unpublished denarius of Titus as Augustus. His coinage has been fully catalogued and is fairly neat and tidy with standardised issues and little in the way of surprises. However, every once in a while an unpublished variant surfaces - this is one of those very special coins. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-156290

Needless to say I was quite thrilled when I obtained it!

Not only unpublished but a lovely example too. I think you are quite right to be thrilled after acquiring this rarity.

Sweet addition, David ... congrats

Ummm, but there aren't any animals on it! (c'mon man, try to find a few examples with some cool animals ... ya gotta love the animal coins, my ol' friend!)

 ;)

Cheers

Funnily enough, the most enjoyable research I've done this year was for a Domitian rhinoceros quadrans. A trip to the local zoo to look at the rhinos was a blast.

Sounds like a fun research-trip, eh?

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure that I only scored one rhino-coin during my days? (wanna see it?)
