Help identify Byzantine coin
« on: May 22, 2019, 04:22:34 pm »
Hi! I need your help and expertise with a Byzantine coin I can't find online. It is from Turkey and the person who showed it to me bought another two (one is a fake), so this can be a fake too. I have attached the photos. Thank you in advance!

Fake. Sorry.

I don't recognize it as copying a particular genuine type.  If anyone has any idea what this is supposed to be, please submit a fake coin report.

I didn't submit a fake report. Yet, I would suggest that the forger attempted to create a "new" follis of Constantine X.

The obverse shows the bust of Christ similar to anonymous folles of the classes A and B and also similar to Sear 1854 (Constantine X). The reverse seems to be loosely similar to the follis Sear 1853. The fake thus has some resemblance of a fantasy hybrid of a Sear 1854 obverse coupled with a Sear 1853 reverse.
