Hi guys,
This coin came to me in one of my latest hauls. It's supposedly a silver
Republican Denarius minted in 130 BC, moneyer Q. Caecilius Metellus, Cr256/1; Syd 509.
Unfortunately I have rather strong suspicions about it. After a closer inspection the coin just doesn't look right and I think it might be a
cast fake. The shapes on the surface are far more blurred than they ought to be and the surface itself is weirdly smooth. Plus, there are little holes which might be air bubbles typical for
cheap cast fakes. I would appreciate if you could
help me confirm or dispel my suspicions.
