A Colosseum Souvenir?
« on: February 19, 2019, 07:04:48 am »
I have always wanted one of these coins. 'No self-respecting Flavian collector should be without one', or so I told myself. It can be very difficult to find a specimen in good condition and fine style. Luckily, I did.    https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-153407

I thought it was going to be an actual Colosseum type!  :D

Nice coin!  I love that two tone patina.

Nice example, I have all the four variants.

James Hazelton wrote an interesting article in his blog about this issue.

Hi DA,

Nice coin! :)

It is probably one of the most beautiful examples of those rhino types.

I have a different Domitian rhino coin (scroll down, last coin):

Mine is RIC 434.

Thanks all for the kind comments!

And jay, I wish I could get a Colosseum sestertius! I'll even settle for Paudan copy.
