Fake coins from Tyre (Phoenicia)
« on: February 19, 2019, 03:05:23 am »
There are so many fakes of varying quality doing the rounds, some very convincing and others not. The coins below fall under the bracket of unconvincing, opinions welcome.

The seller who frequents Ebay is on the "Notorious Fake Sellers List" / exellentoldgoods.

Those are the most grotesque, bizarre, obvious fakes in the history of Ebay--and that is going some.  They look like they were engraved by a visually-challenged fellow using screwdrivers for tools.

I agree Mac, if there was an award for worst fake coin then this would definitely be a gold medal contender.

I thought it was slightly amusing that the seller posted an image of the coins edge in the belief that it would strenghen the case for authenticity.  ;D

It looks as though the model for the bird on the reverse was Sam the Eagle from the Muppets!
