Fake FAUSTINA I ?
« on: February 17, 2019, 02:34:08 pm »
I need help: I suspect this may be a fake. I am not able to find this coin in my referenses. If it is genuine, what is the RIC referance?

Thanks!

RIC 400. I see no reason to suspect the coin's authenticity.

46 spec. in Reka Devnia hoard, meaning comparatively common.

Weight?  Why do you suspect it?

Thanks for replies!
My suspicions are based on the price i paid at a "souvenir shop" in eastern europe (ca 2 USD for a very nice coin), dark spot on reverse (thin silver layer?) and some picture of very similar coin at this forums fake coins report. By the way, I am not very good spotting fake coins, evan after collecting romans for many years.
It weights 3,49 grams

Kind regards

I think the dark areas on the reverse are just some old encrustation.  It looks like a nice coin to me.
