Help with a Russian Wire Denga
« on: February 16, 2019, 10:52:34 am »
I believe that this denga (34 g., 11.09 mm. max., 180◦) was issued by Ivan IV at Moscow, and have tentatively narrowed it to either Grishin-Kleshchinov 59 (Knight die 11, text die 15) or GK 61 (Knight die 12, text die 15), both Group III. There are four lines of text on the reverse, the first of which is ЦРЬ =TSR = Tsar. Is anyone able to: (a) confirm my attribution, and narrow it to either GK 59 or GK 61; and (b) transcribe and translate the remaining three lines of text? Thanks. Stkp

Quite similar. It gives me the transcription and translation that I needed. Why couldn't I find that? THANKS. Stkp

That's a sweet coin, Steve. I wasn't aware that any of the German states struck wire money. Thanks for sharing. Stkp
