Pentanummium I - Anastasius?
« on: April 04, 2019, 12:09:51 pm »
I am struggling with 3 Pentanummium. I posted them on the general HELP ID forum but no input... So I am trying here in a more specialised forum.

Here is the first

The epsilon has some letters/symbols on the right. I think this is an Anastasius and the closest reference I can get is in ERIC II that refers the existence of some with sideways letters on the right side (SB 53, DO, MIB 62 in ERIC II page 1255), but all start with A and this seems an N

Diameter: 13mm and weight 2.34g

Thanks

On the obverse, the name Anastasius is quite well read: ...ANAST_ASIVS and cross above the emperor's head. Sear 53, D.O. 49d, BMC 71, BN –, MIBE 63
