The idea was born, in the words of Dr Christians Teutsch, a researcher at Fraunhofer IFF, in the first reporting of the first contact with the State, that the State Offices should digitise its
complete numismatic
collection, which led to a digital printing that allows individual coins to be recognised and classified, much like the
face recognition of people. In their project, "Digital Archaeological Finds: Artefact
Identification and Recognition Prototype," the closely collaborating partners developed a visual data acquisition system as well as a
software analysis system;
