2018 Gallery of the Year nominations are now open
« on: December 02, 2018, 01:28:42 pm »
Here we are again. It's December and time to think about who will become this year's winner of the Gallery of the Year, so start browsing through the wonderful collections that our members have presented here, leave a few comments along the way, and decide which gallerys are worthy of a nomination.
By the end of the month somebody will be joining our past winners quadrans, David Atherton and Jay GT4, rarified heights indeed!
I will be pinning this topic so you can post your nomination here, and please include a link to the gallery you list.

I will break the ice by nominating the gallery of last year's runner-up Schatz. Although Parthian coin are not really my forte his collection is quite impressive, and his gallery is informative, very well presented and a real joy to browse.
Check it out and see if you would like to second this choice...

Dear, Peter, and Staff and friends ...,

Earlier I was one of the winners, and after My Gallery receive this "title", "Gallery of the Year".
So I think others have to give a chance.
There are many Exquisite Galleries here.
I ask everyone to nominate some others instead of me.

I agree, the earlier nomination (..Schatz, Peter, Oki(Erik), Randy etc..),

and I nominate:
Jochen,
Maridunum (Martin),

 I would draw attention:

Barnaba,
Quant.Geek
Flavius Domitianus(Alberto)
Stkp
Steve P (not a regular gallery :) )
etc..
and so on...

Regards

Joe

I appreciate your coin-love, brother (I think my stuff rocks as well ... but apparently there are strict rules ... and sadly, rules have always been my downfall)

Aww man, as a card carrying anarchist I'm sorry you feel that way, but you have been invited repeatedly to create a 'gallery'. If this was 'Collection of the Year' you would certainly be a leading contender, because you have (oe have had) so many great coins. But we're looking for a searchable reference here, and a thread listing wirh unattributed coins wouldn't really be fair to those who have done the work. I truly hope you understand this.

Sincerely,
- Peter

Didn't you tie with David Atherton last year? Perhaps my memory is suspect (getting old is NOT for wimps!).
But i will definitely second EB's gallery, wirh some of the very cool coins he has presented there.

I would also put forth Leo and Carausius' galleries for consideration...

I know very little about Parthian coinage, but if I needed to conduct research in the area Schatz would be a valuable source. His gallery is well-organized, each coin is well-researched, and his collection is extensive. I am very happy to second the nomination.

Thank you for the nomination, Shanxi. I've tried with limited success to confine my interests to my core area of medieval Hungary, and now just go with the flow, wherever that might take me. Two or three years ago it took me to Elymais. Who knows what the future may bring? My current ongoing project is to rewrite all of the Hungarian albums within my gallery to include additional reference works and information based thereon from books that were either not published or not available to me when the coins were first posted. It is a time-consuming and ongoing project. I am trying to keep pace with the publication of Joe/Quadran's excellent series of books on this coinage (I am about to start revising my third sequential album based on Volume I, which I have, and Volume II, which is in the mail). I am always gratified to know that others find my gallery to be useful, or at least interesting. Steve
