Apollo / Pegasus
« on: December 03, 2018, 12:17:00 pm »
Hi Coin Friends,

I just added this coin to my gallery:

Syracuse,Timoleon, SICILY, AE 20, 344-289 BC.
Obverse: [ΣYΡAKOΣIΩN], Laureate head of Apollo left, unidentified object behind.
Reverse: Pegasus flying left. (NI? HP?) monogram below.

Can anyone tell me what is the object behind Apollo's head?
Thanks,
EB

Maybe amphora, but some parts worn (or tooled) off:

I didn't notice the tooling before, but now I see it. Oh well.
Thanks Pekka!
