« on: November 13, 2018, 02:59:34 pm »
does anyone have any idea what period this is from?
It seems to have a great amount of details, a very detailed image, and have some remains of gold plating on the front.
any help would be greatly appreciated ! as a roman coin collector im not sure what to make of this.

Finds of buckles that general shape are fairly common in the UK where they are generally described as medieval, circa 13th century.

However, I have recently seen something with a similar shaped bucket that is reportedly Roman.  I will let you know if I can find that reference again.

Almost certainly medieval.  Not like the Roman type I was thinking of.

Thanks for your help, i can confirm it is medieval.

After research, I can tell this is a crusader buckle.
