Hi folks,

Interesting story.

This is perplexing because the theater opened in 1807.

I visited Lake Como and surronding villages a few years ago, the topography of this region of Italy is breathtaking.

What an important and wonderful archaeological find.

From the History Hunters Facebook page.

This Roman hoard was discovered in Como early September in the excavation of the basement of a former modern theater. They were exactly one thousand gold coins, each about 4.5 grams, dating from early first century to AD 472-474, plus three earrings, three rings and the fragment of a ingot contained in a Roman Amphora.

Very nice find. Hope one day I'll discover some in my old house at countryside.

Woah, what a find. Crossing my fingers I stumble on a healthy cache one day.
