Help needed for a greek coin
« on: June 06, 2018, 10:26:19 am »
Hello,

Could you help me please for this little coin, 18mm/3.15g, looks like silver. Herakles hurling club or Zeus with thunderbolt? A quiver within wreath on the other side?

It does not look authentic to me, the figure is either Zeus or Poseidon with a trident (worn down), the reverse has a wreath with something in the middle, but I cannot tell what, and again it does not look authentic.
Usually, you should also give size in mm. and weight (if you can).

I did: 18mm/3,15g

Thank you for your answer. What makes you think it's a forgery? For its odd style?
It was found amongst an old collection.

It looks cast, not struck. If genuine it would be struck.
