Please help to identify this decanummia
« on: May 20, 2018, 12:06:07 pm »
Odd deanummia. In appearance it is a typical Justinian, CON, but regnal year is difficult to determine, but year II is unreal for this type. The main thing is that for Justinian decanummi such a short legend like this is not typical. If this is Justin II early deca, then such deanummies are known for the year 1 only, not II. Probably, in the date XXXII part XXX is weak struck. But it is likely that this can also be an imitation. Coin was found in the hoard of byzantine and late roman small change.
