Second of my job lot.... it’s cast and has been worked on.... the hole goes quite deep.... the tip is obviously broken off.... spear head? Is it even ancient? I genuinely have no clue!!

These are usually called chisels in the literature.  The fact that they are rarely sharpened makes me wonder if that is what they actually are but they are clearly some kind of tool.  Late Bronze Age through Iron Age I believe.

It appears to be a hammer, the socketed Bronze Age examples I've seen also have a similar rectangular working/striking face, and the hammering marks on items like bronze sickles or spearheads I have tend to be relatively narrow and long, which makes sense if the hammers used on them look like your example.

That makes more sense than the "chisel" appellation.

Though as I suspect that you don't really swing it, you possibly hit the end of its handle with a hammer, it might be better to call it a punch or a set?

I think I recall seeing something similar attached to a curved wooden handle, and called an axe
