Unclear Constans II hexagramm
« on: May 06, 2018, 11:47:38 am »
Recently, I've seen Constans II hexagramm of a somewhat strange kind one. Most likely this is an official issue, but with a very originally executed portrait of the emperor. For the first time I've met such a small globus cruciger. It is also not clear to me that the letter carved in the reverse field. Usually, it's must be B, C, or more rare, S. But what kind of letter on this sample is not clear. In MIB III there is no such sigla. Mirrored or blundered B? It's looks like d.  Weight about 5.0 gr. Legend around the cross is slightly blundered:
"dEЧS AdЧTA mANIS"  I think that this is not a modern fake, but perhaps the contemporary imitation. I will be glad to hear your opinion.
