Henry II Tealby penny
« on: March 03, 2018, 01:40:56 pm »
I have been wanting one of these for a while. There are quite a few available, but it is finding the right one that takes time. Many of these are crudely struck, missing legends, have poor portraits or have other issues. I decided to go for one that had a very good portrait. I sacrificed the legends for a decent portrait.

Thanks very much @Callimachus. I hope you find one for yourself soon. I had been looking for at least a year but none were quite right. When this one came on the block I knew I wanted it for the strong portrait.

Hi,

Nice portrait.

Are you sure it is a class C and not a class D? There aren't the characteristic "many, many" drapery folds of class C. It would also make it to be possibly WILLEM ON CES, Chester mint, struck in classes A and D. We need Zaph0dd to see it.

Regards,

Mauseus

Interesting coin, it doesnt quite fit into one specific category, that bust is very much a later one, and the skinny cross on the reverse ive only seen on Canterbury.

the WIL for moneyer is in the wrong place too...

could really do with a better photo, that ones a bit small :)

ill see if I can work out whats going on.

Thanks @Mauseus and @Zaph0dd for the interest you have shown concerning my coin.

Here is a larger photo. Hopefully this helps. I think it should enlarge when you click it.
