Help identifying coin
« on: February 06, 2018, 10:52:19 am »
I have a small gold coin that I haven't been able to find any similarities to. Obverse is a profile of a woman's head, and the reverse is ?? (a ship??). The thickness is about twice that of a penny. I have posted pictures.

I have doubts that it is gold, the corrosion does not look like gold.

Maybe a bronze coin from Apollonia Pontica

I think you can read ...KIH from ΔIXAΛKIH, meaning Dichalkon, the value of a bronze coin type

here a little bit better visible:

The size can vary. On acsearch the smallest  example has a diameter of only 9mm.
