I'm not even sure everyone on the list knows they're nominated...

The number of votes is higher than I would expect.  Voting in this poll takes a great deal of time and effort. I think there are many galleries to examine before voting. Next time, I recommend stricter requirements to reduce the number of galleries nominated.

I've only just noticed this thread and I'll need time to look at the galleries in order to cast an informed vote.  I would encourage the moderator to extend the voting by several days - not just for me, but in fairness to the nominees.  We get 30 days for member of the year, which requires less effort of consideration.

Such an overwhelming response!  ;D

I wonder, are there so many sections here that things get lost or unseen?  I know I miss quite a bit of interesting threads from some of the sub sections that I only find after doing a search.  Just a thought.

You are doing well to get 28 voters, the BOT contests regularly struggle to get 10. It is disappointing given the size of the membership.

yes, unfortunate but true.

and as someone stated above, it probably would've helped if I had added the URL's to the candidates in the poll. however, with my desktop gone the way of the buffalo and only my cellphone to access here on a regular basis that just wasn't practical at this time. hopefully next year.

at this time we are looking at a tie, which is pretty cool actually. I would like to have seen a 10-way tie, since there really are so many well presented galleries here.
but that doesn't let any of you none-voters off the hook, so get in there and vote!

Should be easy for the moderator to check and confirm.

In which case the voter turnout is even more abysmal than thought.

For the record, I cast my votes for other collections.

Highlights the fact that galleries are a very personal interest, limited it seems to few members of the discussion board.

I agree with you guys, maybe next year members will vote more.
The idea still new, just look at member of the year which is a lot older, more than 6000 members 63 voters, I know the 6000 are not all active but also still, just check the posts in November and Decembers on discussion board, all active members and a lot more than 63.

Are really doing a good job, they DO really pay attention to members work at their section , and they do encourage them and stand for them.
They do deserve all Thanks and Appreciation.

I still believe Mat ' gallery should get more than one vote (unrealistic , the man put a lot of thoughts and work in his gallery)
Even his name was added late but still.
Enodia 's idea is superb and will be credited to him.
Practice will make perfect, next year will be better and better, Rome was not built in one day.

One of my votes went to the gallery I tied with. Congrats Jay!

And I would be remiss not to mention that all of the galleries nominated are the creme de la creme of Forvm's member galleries.

I don't believe that there is any need for a witch-hunt to find out who did or did not vote. I do not think that that is desirable at all.

In general the members' galleries are very lightly visited, in many cases the total number of views that they have are the result of the accumulation of visits made by the gallery owners themselves.
I expect that this is probably because the members' galleries have been mostly created by members for their own personal pleasure and being a showcase for other members is just a kind of side effect.
That was certainly the case when I created my own gallery.
On the plus side though it is good that the galleries are available to be used those members who do want to visit them now or in the future. And I am certainly very pleased if any of my own galleries brings pleasure to others.

The kudos should all go to Robert and especially Enodia, the whole project was his idea and he has done very well in difficult circumstances. In truth I myself did absolutely nothing, I have been occupied elsewhere.

I use the galleries regularly for research and when they are well organized with attributions they can be a great resource.  Also I just enjoy seeing everyone's new coins!

I really only wanted to throw some light into the wonderful collections gathered in the galleries, much as I was trying to do with the 'collective noun' threads.
and there are many more beautiful galleries which were NOT nominated, so hopefully those will be exposed next year.

I honestly think that the best of these are a real resource to the new collector, as the personal nature of the collections often causes the member who creates them to strive for a level of completion and accuracy that even some of the best search engines have a hard time achieving.
so to all of you who work so hard to this end, YOU are the ones who deserve the kudos!   :)

and for the record, 2 of my votes went to the two members who tied for first, so i'm feeling a bit cocky right now.   8)
congratulations to both of you, and to all in the poll.
