Caracalla IVSTITIA
« on: December 11, 2017, 03:29:04 pm »
Any thoughts on this specimen?  ???
RIC records two denarii with IVSTITIA reverses for Caracalla, RIC 335 and (much rarer) RIC 355A. However, I have not seen this particular type before. Is it official, an ancient forgery, or even modern?
The coin was sold on eBay yesterday for $158,50.

You can smell a Roman legion long before you are able to see it.
