Though I
hope this special variant is somewhere known to mankind, it is
still extremely
rare as it is not in any of the reference sources.
Sestertius Antoninus Pius 28.15 grams
IMP [
T AEL CAE]S HADR ANTO - NINVS AVG PIVS [P]P laureate
head right / P M
TR POT COS II S-C
Fides standing front,
head right, holding two ears of
corn and a basket of fruits.
The special feature of this coin is the presence of PP which apeared immediately after this issue as
ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP.
The example directly under my rather
poor specimen, is taken from
Wildwinds where noone seemd to have noticed the presence of PP and is therefore catalogued as
RIC 530b.
The obverses are die-identical.
