SADDLE TACK?
« on: October 27, 2017, 10:06:37 am »
Not sure what this item is.  It looks to represent a 6 leaf clover and is approximately 15mm wide.  it has a short nail on the back side.  I'm thinking maybe a saddle tack.  Patina is a very dark (almost black) green.  Any ideas on use or age would be appreciated.  Sorry for the crappy photos....camera having difficulty focusing.

The general design is unfortunately quite common.  Could be saddle or harness tack, Roman or medieval.  Also post-Roman belt applique.

Would have to find exact match to be sure.....
