Here is another sweet counter-strike ...

=> Troas, Abydos => Eagle stamped over eagle (cock-fight?!)

TROAS, Abydos. Æ23 Countermarked issue
Circa 4th-3rd century BC
Diameter: 23 mm
Weight: 7.98 grams
Obverse: Turreted bust of Artemis right
Reverse: ABY, eagle standing right, head left
Reference: SNG Copenhagen 40 for countermark; SNG Copenhagen 38 and SNG Ashmolean 988-9 for undertype
Other: 12h … VF, brown patina
The undertype is a bust of Artemis facing slightly right, wearing mural crown / Eagle standing right, wings displayed

Oh, and here is another very cool over-strike ...

BOEOTIA, Federal Coinage (Overstrike), Æ18
Circa 220s BC
Diameter: 17.5 mm
Weight: 5.11 grams
Obverse: Head of Demeter or Kore (Persephone) three-quarter face right, wearing corn-wreath
Reverse: Poseidon, naked, standing left, resting right foot on rock and leaning on trident; to right, ΒΟΙΩΤ[ΩΝ] downward
Reference: BCD Boiotia 108 (this coin); HGC 4, 1182. VF, dark brown patina. Overstruck on Æ of Antigonos Gonatas of the type SNG Cop. 1214-1221
Other: 12h … the overstrikes are reversed on this coin, which is quite rare
Ex BCD Collection (Triton IX, 10 January 2006), lot 108

Obverse => it looks like there is a horse wrapped around Demeter's face

Reverse => Poseidon, standing left, all within a huge portrait


I have also tossed-in the host coin

Here is my favourite coin "today" ... yah, some days some coins scream at me (today this baby decided to puff-up his awesomeness)

Date: 301-303 AD
Diameter: 28.5 mm

Obverse:  CONSTANTIVS NOB C - Laureate and cuirassed bust left, holding sceptre over left shoulder
Reverse: GENIO POPVLI ROMANI - Genius standing left, holding patera over altar and cornucopiæ; B right, PLC in ex. (Lugdunum mint)

Other: Superb and bold portrait

CALABRIA, Tarentum, AR Nomos
Circa 315-302 BC
Diameter: 20 mm
Weight: 7.98 grams
Obverse: Warrior, preparing to cast spear, holding two others and shield, on horse rearing right (eight rayed star on horse quarter); ΣA below
Reverse: Phalanthos, holding kantharos and trident, astride dolphin left; AP monogram to left; below, small dolphin left
Reference: Fischer-Bossert Group 70, 846 (V336/R657); Vlasto 600 (same obv. die); HN Italy 937; Gulbenkian 35 (same dies); Jameson 156 (same dies)
Other: 11h … EF, toned. Excellent metal, exceptional obverse from fresh dies
