Coin of day - today is a sweet Saturday (best day of the week!)
« on: October 14, 2017, 06:26:46 am »
Hi ... hey, some of you are encouraging me to show-off my collection, so I'm gonna gladly try and fulfill your wants ...

It is always a bit difficult to chose one coin from the pack, but I figured that this baby deserves a chance to shine.

Ionia, Teos AR Drachm
375 B.C. Hagnon, magistrate
Diameter: 16 MM
Weight: 3.4grams
Obverse: Griffin seated right, raising forepaw
Reverse: Quadripartite incuse square with granulated quarters and thick crossbars; ZHIΩN on horizontal crossbar, AΓ-NΩN on vertical crossbar
Reference: Kinns 11; SNG Copenhagen 1443

=> so, "please" put your hands together and take a gander at this baby ...

Nice coin,

Judging by your coins I am figuring you like creatures with wings Steve!

Thanks, guys

Peter => my collection is primarily aimed at "animals" ... which might seem a bit vague and pointless to a few of the more classic-collectors? ... but the awesome part about collecting animals is that I'm all across the ancient coin board, constantly learning about history and forever chasing super cool animals from all over the ancient globe

Oh, and yah => Pegasos, and gryphons are among my favourite coin-targets

Besides collecting animals, I love ancient coins with weapons and ancient coins with ships

cheers

Steve

That explains why so many of your coin posts remind me of Game of Thrones!
