Seleucid coins woodblock print
« on: October 05, 2017, 06:47:32 pm »
Hi,

Can anybody identify this woodblock print from a book on Seleucid coins at all please? What's the source volume? As an aside one of the three Seleucid coins I own is the type illustrated on the top row.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Mauseus

From another listing of this print:

"Description: This old antique print originates from the 2-volume: 'Joodse Oudheden, ofte Voor-Bereidselen tot de Bybelsche Wysheid, en gebruik der heilige en kerkelijke historien: uit de Alder-Oudste Gedenkkenissen der Hebreen, Chaldeen, Babyloniers, Egiptenaars, Syriers, Grieken en Romeinen, ...', published by Wilhelmus Goeree, Amsterdam, 1690.

Artists and Engravers: Wilhelmus Goeree (1635-1711), Dutch bookseller. Very engaged with art and science. Most plates engraved by J.Luyken (1642-1712), a Dutch engraver and author"
