unknown Alexandrian mint: Justin I, Justinian or Justin II
« on: September 30, 2017, 12:07:00 pm »
Hello

I have asked that question in another forum, but the debaters could not help me. - Perhaps there are some byzantine nerd(s) who might figure it out?

If you hold that coin and shed some light from a certain perspective you definitely can se a "NV" on obverse side, in which I have marked with red alphabet. It could stand for "IVSTIANVS" but it could also stand for "IVSTINVS". -

Is it possible to determine the correct ruler? - or is it heavily worn?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Its the three choices as you noted, do not see any thing else to help

Have always found the Alexandria mint issues interesting.

Justin I/SBVC 112
Justinian I/SBVC 247
Justin II/SBVC 389

Maybe there is part of letter "A" just before the
red highlighted "NV". That points to:

Justinian I/SBVC 247
