any ideas?

Just got this, 22mm and 1.72gm. Any ideas, not byzantine and not an imitation.

I really can't help id it, but it appears from the pictures that the designs are engraved into the surface as opposed to standing out as on a normal struck coin.  If this is the case, it almost certainly precludes the item from being a coin.

It looks like something hand engraved, not very well. Maybe tooled into a blank?

Looks like someone made an icon from a worn coin.

LOL! Yes Steve its almost that bad.

I bought this object because I really had the feeling I had seen the images before, but no. I believe someone just modified a coin shaped piece of metal , it has been most certainly been worked on. I was unable to get any better picture than the sellers photo above. Here is one of my shots but darkened for detail.
