Not Your typical Domitian Minerva!

I was very happy to finally get a denarius from this rare issue struck for Domitian in late 88. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-139967

A lot of these rare dating combinations go unnoticed in trade, hopefully not due to apathy!

Great piece!
Well observed, and well rewarded for your efforts.
I have had a couple of nice rarities myself over the
years, some as noted in RIC. All part of the fun!

This is not just a rare dating combination; IMP XVI is inherently rare, in whatever combination with other titles!

Numbers of denarii with rare acclamations in 43 hoards tabulated by Carradice, Coinage and Finances, p. 76:

IMP II     1 spec.

IMP V      2

IMP VIII   1

IMP VIIII   4

IMP XIII    3

IMP XV     6

David's IMP XVI    2

IMP XVIII    5

The rapid sequence of IMP acclamations certainly made it interesting for future numismatists!
